Privacy Policy
Effective August 11, 2026
GitHub Fork Compare Fix processes only the information needed to rewrite GitHub compare and pull request links for repositories that you enable. The developer does not receive or collect this information.
Information processed
- Repository identifiers that you configure, which may contain a GitHub username or organization name, and your redirect preference.
- The current GitHub repository URL and page content needed for the feature, including links, branch names, default-branch metadata, and ahead/behind commit counts.
How the information is used
This information is used solely to identify enabled repositories, point compare and pull request links at the correct repository, and show branch information relative to that repository's own default branch.
Storage and retention
Repository identifiers and the redirect preference are saved with the browser's extension sync storage and may be synchronized by your browser provider. Default-branch names are cached in local extension storage for up to 24 hours. Other GitHub page content is processed temporarily and is not stored by the extension.
Network requests and sharing
The extension makes HTTPS requests only to GitHub to obtain repository information required for its features. These requests use your existing GitHub session when applicable, but the extension does not read or store your password, authentication tokens, or cookies. No information is sent to the developer or to advertising, analytics, or telemetry services. Information is not sold or used for advertising.
Your choices
You can remove configured repositories in the extension's options page. You can remove locally stored data by uninstalling the extension; synchronized copies are managed through your browser provider.
Limited Use
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Changes and contact
This policy will be updated if the extension's data practices change. Questions can be submitted through the project's GitHub issue tracker.
